Benefiting Beings
To benefit sentient beings, those who are able should act; those who are not should pray. If you keep these two in mind, all will be well.

The majority of contemporary Nyingmapas are quite content with accepting the Self-Empty School.
Fundamentally speaking, in terms of the views of our past lineage masters, we should be holding hands with the Other-Empty School. What’s going on? I’m confused.

Chinese
If one does not know how to properly apply the two truths, attachment to conventional truth becomes the cause of samsara, while attachment to ultimate truth becomes the obstacle to liberation.
If one can do the opposite, however, accumulation of merit causes renunciation of samsara, while accumulation of wisdom brings the liberation of nirvana.
Integration or no integration - whatever! I’ve got a headache!

Chinese
Those targeting objects cut through with reasoning and emphasize the empty nature are the Self-Empty School.
Those targeting objects cut through with the path and emphasize the pure, luminous nature are the Other-Empty School.
Those who target both, and whose hearing, contemplation, and practice, are undistorted, are Nyingmapas.
All three will eventually achieve the integration of the two truths.

To insist that all phenomena of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa must be measured in terms of valid versus invalid cognition is to throw the integration of the two truths right out the window.
This is very unpleasant for the general public to hear… and deservingly so. It can’t be helped.

Conventional truth is like your meal.
Ultimate truth is like moderating your portion size.
When you have both, you gain good health.
The integration of the two truths is nothing more than this.

Chinese
Conventional truth is like the road.
Ultimate truth is like the vehicle.
When you have both, you can arrive anywhere you wish to go.
We can also call this the integration of the two truths.

Because all phenomena are empty by nature, the scientists are able to make a living.
Because the dependent origination of all characteristics is infallible, religions are able to make a living.
Because emptiness is also empty by nature, the Buddhists are able to make a living.
If one can have such a generous outlook in their heart, they can live a very good life.

Attachment to conventional existence is incapable of letting go of samsara.
Attachment to ultimate nonexistence is unable to have faith in liberation.
Therefore, not knowing how to utilize the two truths is such a sad thing… so I’ve heard!

Chinese
“Existence is the conventional, nonexistence is the ultimate.”
If one spends one’s whole life only on this sort of philosophical challenges, in the end, one will only become a person who is incapable of ordinary interactions with other people and neurotic. This is the only thing one will end up becoming.
Alas, what misery!
