Praises on Bodhicitta 81 – 88
(81)
The merits of Bodhicitta,
So wonderful and inconceivable;
How shall one practice Bodhi,
Study Bodhicaryāvatāra in detail.
(82)
Bodhicitta the teacher,
Eradicates evil karma without a trace,
Brings forth virtuous deeds naturally,
Views sentient beings with compassion.
(83)
Villains delight in drinking and smoking,
Lechers delight in searching for beauties,
Idlers delight in gambling,
The sagacious delight in Bodhicitta.
(84)
If one does not have Bodhicitta,
Benefiting sentient beings is all but a sham;
If a giant tree is devoid of fruits,
How could it relieve the suffering of hunger?
(85)
Buddhas of bygone and present times,
In their insights to truth and attainment of enlightenment,
The infallible and extraordinary path,
Is none other than Bodhicitta.
(86)
Without Bodhicitta,
The scholar cannot benefit oneself,
The practitioner cannot benefit others,
Like the plantain tree withering upon fruition.
(87)
When Bodhicitta comes forth,
The hound and the deer,
Depart from aggression and fear,
And live together in harmony.
(88)
Bodhicitta beautifies the dwellings,
Bodhicitta adorns the outdoors,
Day and night ornament the world,
Orchid flowers embellish the garden.
