When Afflictions Arise in Our Minds

Guru Rinpoche

When afflictions arise in our minds, it is difficult to tackle at the moment.

We shall therefore constantly remind ourselves of: the expectation of greedy love, and the sorrow and inability we felt when we failed to obtain it; or the mental and physical exhaustion, as well as loss of properties after fighting with others out of hatred; or the discomfort in mind caused by jealousy; or discord with others due to arrogance, and the like. All these, do more harm than good.

At the moment when afflictions arise in our minds, if we can remember and remind ourselves of these, we will be less impulsive.

These are talks of my experiences, which are shared with wills to be helpful.
