Today Exists, is Because There is Yesterday
When we think about the question whether or not there is in fact the so-called past life and next life, what we know is that scientists have already proved that human body is made of cells, and that they have acknowledged the existence of consciousness. However, where does this consciousness come from? Up until now, it remains to be proven by scientists.
Basically, scientists do not believe that things come out of thin air, and believe that everything needs to be proven empirically.
Then where on earth does the consciousness come from?
In the process of ovum fertilization, cell division and embryo formation, the consciousness cannot be produced on its own. It can be therefore deduced that the consciousness comes from the outside.
If we take a step further, we can not but accept what Buddhism asserts: the consciousness of this life is a continuation of the consciousness from past life.
Just as what we all agree that: “Today is the continuation of yesterday, and tomorrow is the continuation of today.” By the same token, if there is this life, then the past life and next life must also exist.
