Buddha Didn’t Ask Us to Disregard Ourselves

The concept of arousing Bodhicitta in Mahayana Buddhism doesn’t mean that we don’t need to give due considerations to ourselves, but we are headed in the wrong direction in the way we take care of ourselves.

The one who puts others first and does things for others will eventually attain Nitya-sukha-atma-subha.

Just like prince Siddhartha, who had always put others first and done things for others. By thoroughly looking after others, he effectively took care of himself in perfectness, and ultimately became the Teacher of Devas and human beings.

It is therefore very important to find the right direction when we want to take care of ourselves.
