不依眾生 不能成佛

One Cannot Attain Buddhahood Without Relying on Sentient Beings

*“1. By thinking of all sentient beingsAs more precious than a wish-fulfilling jewelFor accomplishing the highest aim,*I will always hold them dear.”

Mahayana Buddhism states that “There is no way that one can attain Buddhahood without relying on sentient beings,” which means that if someone chooses to devote and depend only on Buddha, and not rely on sentient beings, one will not be able to attain Buddhahood.

The Six Paramitas we practice are directly related to sentient beings as well. Being a practitioner of Mahayana Buddhism, we shall therefore care more for all sentient beings based on the way we care for ourselves. I earnestly ask you to not neglect this line of thought. Palyul Choktrul 2020/11/13
