Here Comes Your Chance!
“4. Whenever I see ill-natured beings,
Or those overwhelmed by heavy misdeeds or suffering,
I will cherish them as something rare,
As though I’d found a priceless treasure.”
Isn’t benefiting sentient beings the ultimate goal of the Mahayana Buddhism tradition? To benefit sentient beings, we shall disregard who they are, be it good or evil, so long as they are in trouble or in need of help, we should try our best to lend them our help. This is a very rare opportunity so we must seize upon it, at that very moment.
Sometimes we may find that we are not capable of helping others, but at the very least, we can burn an incense stick, light up a lamp, or even chant a Buddha’s name on their behalf. These, we must be able to do!
This is very important. I ask you to keep it firmly in mind, and not forget shortly after a casual glance.
